What We Learned...
Our team received advanced training on brain changes associated with dementia, gaining a deeper understanding of what these changes are, how they impact our clients, and how to respond with confidence and compassion.
The session focused on:
-
Understanding how cognitive changes affect thinking, reasoning, and the ability to process information
-
Recognizing common behaviors and the underlying causes behind them
-
Applying effective redirection techniques to reduce distress and promote calm
-
Utilizing Positive Approach to Care (PAC) and Positive Physical Approach (PPA) methods to build trust and connection
-
Practicing Hand-Over-Hand (HUH) techniques to safely guide and support clients with daily tasks
Through this training, our caregivers strengthened their ability to meet each client where they are—both cognitively and emotionally—while maintaining dignity, comfort, and safety.

Why This Matters...
At Egan At Home, we believe exceptional dementia care goes beyond assistance—it requires understanding, patience, and specialized skill.

By equipping our caregivers with advanced techniques and a deeper understanding of brain changes, we are able to:
-
Reduce agitation and prevent unnecessary distress
-
Improve communication and meaningful engagement
-
Support independence for as long as possible
-
Create a calm, structured, and reassuring environment
-
Deliver a higher standard of personalized, dignified care
This commitment to ongoing education ensures that our caregivers are not only compassionate—but also highly trained professionals capable of delivering elevated, concierge-level care to every client we serve.
